Our Path Forward
"Our people will be strong, proud, and empowered, rooted in a deep connection to their cultural heritage and equipped with the tools to succeed in an ever-evolving world. Through the preservation and revitalization of cultural knowledge, we will ensure that our traditions, languages, and histories are passed down to future generations, fostering pride and unity within our communities. Quality education will serve as the foundation for personal growth and collective advancement, ensuring that every individual has access to opportunities that nurture their potential and prepare them for a changing global landscape. Furthermore, we will promote active participation in economic growth, ensuring that our people are not only consumers but also creators, innovators, and leaders in their industries, contributing to a prosperous and sustainable future. By fostering an environment where cultural richness, education, and economic participation go hand in hand, we will create a legacy of empowerment, resilience, and unity for generations to come."
Mt. Perry Summit Walk: A Trail Crafted by Gidarjil Trainees
In 2020, the Mt. Perry Summit Walk project was fully funded—with significant involvement from the Gidarjil Corporation. They helped administer funding from Queensland’s “Skilling Queenslanders for Work” (SQW) initiative. Local trainees, employed through Gidarjil, took the lead in designing and constructing the trail to a recognized safety standard (AS2156.1‑2001 Class 3) under the supervision of Queensland Parks and Wildlife rangers.
This initiative not only created a literal pathway, but also served as a powerful model of community engagement—melding culture, training, heritage, tourism, and economic development.
A Digital Path: 5G-Enabled Drone Streaming for Cultural Connection
Alternatively, Gidarjil’s work with cutting-edge tech offers a more symbolic interpretation of “path”: a pathway of connection bridging Elders and youth across distances using technology.
This digital “path” demonstrates how modern technology can strengthen cultural and intergenerational links—even when faced with geographical or mobility barriers.
