“To empower Our Young people to leverage upon their individual and collective strengths to reconnect to Culture and improving their Spiritual, Social, Environmental, Economic and education outcomes.”

“To support the development of the next generation of young indigenous leaders by delivering a program that capitalizes on their commitment, strengths and community partnerships.”

The Girls Academy is a culturally grounded, school-based engagement program designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school girls. Co-funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) and ConocoPhillips, the program aims to keep Indigenous students connected to their education while strengthening their cultural identity.


​​Over the last two years:
GA’s Team has delivered several activities in/out of school including
(on average) 210 BBQs, 420 bus runs, 210 afternoon teas for over 2,100 students which has met funding provider expectations.

Program:

10 week cycles program (drafted) aligned with school terms.

10 participants max. per cycle (starting Term 3, 2023).

Strength-based Model (i.e., the mindset of ‘never give up’).

Team projects to build collective capacity

Future Leadership program for “advanced participants”.

During the last three days, GA’s Project Officer has been provided with the tools to transform this initiative into a well-structured and strength-based program.
