Gidarjil’s training and employment programs assist indigenous people in gaining the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue their career pathways. The successful participants gain valuable exposure to a wide range of techniques, skills and qualifications. If you are an indigenous jobseeker, call into the Gidarjil office at 53 Walker Street Bundaberg to view current job vacancies and training opportunities.
Gidarjil is an Indigenous Employment Program (IEP) provider under the DEEWR panel process until 2015. In this capacity, Gidarjil delivers Indigenous employment and training programs across Queensland.
In 2008 (Jan to July) Gidarjil successfully delivered the IEP, previously known as STEP Indigenous Training for Jobs, project in the Rockhampton area in collaboration with Jobs Queensland, Dreamtime Cultural Centre, the Rockhampton Regional Council and Bundaberg Regional Council
In our current training programs participants complete accredited training such as Certificate I & II in Construction. The training is delivered in town or at Thornhill Station where accommodation is provided for participants. Thornhill Station is a property which has a strict "No Drugs or Alcohol” policy, and is located halfway between Gladstone and Bundaberg. The property is managed by Gidarjil Development Corporation
Key benefits of participating in Gidarjil’s employment and training programs and services:
  • help you build a positive future by encouraging independence with ongoing support
  • participate in activities and programs and become actively involved in the community
  • learn new skills and make informed decisions
  • enhance and build on your interests, skills and abilities, through group and individual support
  • build and secure sustainable career paths into the future

Partnerships have been developed with the LNG companies who also benefit from our training programs by employing skilled indigenous employees to support their commitment to sustainability and indigenous participation.
